About microblading

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo technique that involves piercing fine lines into the skin to create the illusion of natural eyebrow hairs. Unlike traditional permanent makeup, microblading uses a special technique that creates a more natural look. The procedure is painless and can usually be completed within one to two hours.

How long does microblading last?

This question can not be answered on a general basis. The durability of microblading varies depending on skin condition and care, metabolism and UV consumption. Since it depends on a variety of factors, it cannot be predicted explicitly. Basically, with hair drawing you can expect more regular touch-ups than with classic permanent make-up/tattoos.

How painful is microblading?

Since the individual perception of pain varies from person to person, no information can be given about the exact level of pain. Many of our customers describe their feeling during the treatment as a slight burning sensation, which is unpleasant but quite bearable in anticipation of the finished result.

What are the risks?

Redness and slight swelling may occur during and for a short time after treatment, but this will subside within a few hours. In addition, symptoms such as feelings of tension and/or itching can occur during the active healing phase.

History of microblading

Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup technique that specifically aims to redesign or transform your eyebrow appearance by implanting pigments using a manual hand tool. These are implanted after making a series of fine incisions in the skin using spring lifting techniques in the desired area.

The origin of microblading is not clearly proven. It varies depending on the source, some say the makeup technique originated hundreds of years ago in Japan, while others point to a more recent origin almost 20 years ago in China. What is common on both sides of the story is that microblading has Asian origins. An online research into where it comes from leads to some clear, verifiable facts: The technique was used as early as 2005 in Asian regions such as Singapore, China and Korea and was called "eyebrow embroidery." By 2010, “eyebrow embroidery” reached the Western world and was pioneered by Dr. Laura Dixon adapted. By 2015, microblading was taking the North American beauty industry by storm and was being hailed as one of the most ingenious innovations in the recent history of cosmetic tattooing.

If you try to delve a little deeper into the origins of microblading, you will probably realize that it has been referred to as “The Japanese Method” by cosmetic specialists and suppliers around the world for marketing reasons. However, almost every tool required for a successful microblading treatment is manufactured and sold in China, and the country itself is one of the largest markets for embroidery treatments. Perhaps this is due to the reputation that “made in China” is usually associated with products of low quality or questionable methods. So it was renamed to appeal to other markets. Only in recent years have some manufacturers started producing these tools in Europe and the USA. Asia is still the largest market and innovation center for new microblading techniques and products, with Korea at the forefront. We are very excited about the future of microblading as this young industry is just beginning to blossom in Switzerland!
